Joel Ortiz, a 20-year-old college student from Boston, Massachusetts, reportedly stole $5 million in cryptocurrency. Ortiz was able to steal the funds after he hijacked the victim’s phone numbers and used them to hack their crypto accounts. He has now been arrested and charged with multiple counts of grand theft, identity theft, and hacking. However, only $250,000 of the stolen digital currency has been recovered so far.
