The Italian professional football club Juventus has issued its own token to allow fans to vote.
After a year-long development of Juventus, the Juventus token is now available on Socios.com, a symbolic platform for voting for sports fans, as announced on 2 December.
The initial chip price is 2 euros ($2.22) per chip, while a limited amount of free chips will be available through the extended reality feature of the Socios.com app, "Token Hunt".
Token-hunt fans will be able to vote in a number of club-related decisions, the first of which will decide when the club scores a goal.
Initially, the club planned to release the chip in the first quarter of 2019. The decision to develop a branded chip was a consequence of a similar Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) initiative. The PSG partnership with Socios.com also allows fans to vote and grants VIP status and/or awards to the owners.
Sports teams around the world have actively adopted branded chips to improve their interaction with fans. In mid-October, the Sacramento Kings NBA basketball team partnered with CryptoKaiju to launch cryptographic collector materials supported by illegible chips.
