Cosmos smart contracts

Sommelier, a co-processing protocol for the Ethereum Virtual Machine, or EVM, announced on Tuesday a research and development partnership with Mysten Labs to increase the speed of liquidity transactions and launch smart contract applications on the Cosmos blockchain.

Sommelier, founded in 2020 by Zaki Manian, the lead developer of the Cosmos protocol, is a testbed network protocol designed to deliver automated enterprise-grade financial transactions such as limit orders, batch orders and portfolio rebalancing to decentralised finance, or DeFi, traders and liquidity providers, or LPs.

The blockchain, which combines the Tendermint consensus layer, Cosmos Stargate SDK and bidirectional Ethereum bridge, will work with Mysten to implement Move smart contract programming to provide the entire Cosmos developer ecosystem, as well as those using its Ethereum Gravity Bridge, with smart contract capabilities.

Mysten Labs is a Web 3.0 infrastructure platform founded earlier this year by the team of crypto program engineers responsible for the blockchain architecture of Facebook's Diem cryptocurrency payments platform and its corresponding Novi mobile wallet.

Mysten's experience in the field will reportedly support scaling the Sommelier blockchain to 100,000 transactions per second, or TPS.
