University in Australia with the new postgraduate Blockchain program

RMIT University, Australia's public research university, is adding two new postgraduate programmes in cyber security and blockchain technology.

The university announced on 26th May that it is working with IBM, Palo Alto Networks and Stone & Chalk to offer a certificate of completion in cyber security and a master's degree in blockchain technology.

The programmes are expected to start in October 2020 and last nine months.

RMIT has introduced new programmes to meet the growing demand for cybersecurity and blockchain specialists.

The announcement cites reports that the Australian cyber security industry will almost triple to 6 billion Australian dollars over the next six years, creating a need for 18,000 professionals in Australia.

Even the blockchain industry is predicted to show 80% annual growth. However, currently only one in 20 managers can easily find specialists in this field.

Rupert Colchester, head of blockchain at IBM Australia and New Zealand, said that blockchain graduates will be able to help companies apply technology to their business.
