Problems of the Libra Alternative

OpenLibra's founder, Lucas Geiger, has reportedly misled some of the organizations involved in the project.

At least four people and organizations denied supporting the OpenLibra project. Other people and organizations are minimizing their involvement in the OpenLibra project, which is to become an alternative to Libra on Facebook.

Ethereum developer Lane Rettig excitedly took on Twitter on October 8 to share Geiger's announcement about OpenLibra at the Ethereum developer conference Devcon 5, Osaka, Japan.

At the start, some names were mistakenly associated with the project, while others were used without proper permission. Some organizations were presented as members, when in fact they have nothing to do with OpenLibra. Geiger later apologized in a telegram to President Chainlink Sergei Nazorov and Coindesk, saying:

"We were in a hurry to prepare the materials, and my team took a list of my partners and potential partners and posted it on the website. It has now been deleted. I apologize for the inconvenience it caused. I should have taken a closer look.

The developers of OpenLibra released the first version of the proposed alternative to Libra stablecoin on Facebook.
