Drug Tracking and blockchain

25 leading pharmaceutical manufacturers, distributors, logistics partners and other representatives of the pharmaceutical supply chain have published a report in which they advocate the adoption of Blockchain technology for the tracking of prescription drugs following the pilot programme.

In early 2019, the FDA began to adopt project proposals to support the office in meeting the requirements of the Drug Safety and Supply Chain Act (DSCSA) of 2023 - which requires the pharmaceutical industry to track "legal changes in drug ownership in the supply chain.

In June 2019, the MediLedger project was approved by the FDA, which consists of a working group of 25 major companies in the pharmaceutical supply chain to assess the Blockchain-based MediLedger network as a tool to track and trace prescription drugs in the US.

The MediLedger project included three core technologies: a private system for customer-to-customer messaging by trading partners and trading partners, Blockchain as a fixed, common book for transaction approval and intelligent contract execution, and a lack of knowledge to ensure robust privacy protection for messaging and transfer.
