Blockchain energy platform

Australian company Power Ledger announced on 25th May a partnership with Thai Digital Energy Development (TDED) to establish an energy platform based on blockchain in the country.

This platform will enable green trade in raw materials and peer-to-peer (P2P) energy in order to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy sources. Thailand intends to produce 25% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2037.

Power Ledger's blockchain-based trading energy solutions include peer-to-peer power trading and virtual power plants, as well as carbon credit trading and renewable energy certificates (REC).

TDED is a public-private joint venture between the Thai energy authorities and BCPG green energy specialists. The partnership with Power Ledger will include blockchain technology used to manage four BCPG clean energy projects, including energy and carbon management at the University of Chiang Mai's 12MW Smart Campus.

Power Ledger has been working with BCPG since 2018, when it began a similar attempt to trade P2P energy in one of Bangkok's central districts.
