Australian Partnership in Micropayments

Eftpos Australia, a leading provider of technology for the country's points of sale, has announced a partnership with Hedera's Distributed Technology Book (DLT) for micropayment proof of concept using the Australian dollar of a stable coin.

Eftpos CEO Stephen Benton described the partnership with Hedera as part of a broader innovation strategy for digital payments aimed at modernising the Australian payment industry.

The pilot aims to show how micropayments can be used to offer innovative payment solutions such as 'pay per page content or pay-per-second streaming services'.

Evidence that this concept will be fed by the stable Australian dollar through the Heder Consensus Service.

Hedera's CEO, Mance Harmon, said that "Micropayments have always been a great opportunity for Hedera to take advantage of, as they allow us to showcase the unique features of the underlying consensus hashgraphic algorithm - low fees, incredibly high bandwidth and the immediate finality of the consensus transaction".
