A film about OneCoin with a Hollywood star in the cast

Even when the OneCoin Ponzi scheme is breaking through the courts, the film about it is currently being developed with the main star of the Titanic.

Kate Winslet has signed a contract with the studio to produce Fake!, a film based on an unpublished book by Jen McAdam and Douglas Thompson. McAdam, a victim of the OneCoin program, will be the producer in this film.

Fake! will be written and directed by Scott Z. Burns, who directed The Report, a political drama based on the CIA report on torture after 9/11 and wrote the script for the 2011 pandemic film Contagion, which also featured Winslet.

OneCoin was founded in 2014 by Ruja Ignatova in Bulgaria. OneCoin operated according to a typical structure of a multi-level marketing scheme, but with crypto twist. He promised that OneCoin would be the next Bitcoin, although it was not supported by blockchain or network. Despite several warnings from the crypto industry and government agencies, OneCoin continued to be popular, supporting a "we versus them" mentality.

Ignatova was accused on May 7 of bank fraud, securities fraud and money laundering, but was not seen since 2017. Her brother Konstantin Ignatova, the manager of OneCoin, was accused of the same in March. Since then he agreed to testify against his sister. The investors sued OneCoin for fraud, claiming losses of 5 billion dollars.
