Further stages of ETH 2.0

The creator of ConsenSys, Ben Edgington, published an update that predicts that the origins of the ETH 2.0 transmitter chain will occur within the next six to eight weeks.

In the post announcing the launch of "V1.0.0 release candidate 0," Edgington revealed that the address of the protocol deposit contract should be announced this week. The depository agreement allows for the transfer of ETH between Ethereum and ETH 2.0 and is one of the few remaining updates necessary to facilitate the launch of phase 0 of ETH 2.0.

To complete the launch of phase 0, 500,000 ethereums will have to be locked in place after the transmitter chain starts, followed by a week-long delay in genesis to give the network time to prepare.

According to Edgington, the new release also strengthens the Etereum before denial of service attacks, introduces a delay in genesis and a temporary fourfold increase in penalty charges.

The penalties were increased in response to the "slightly bumpy" genesis of the "general trial" in the Spadin test network at the end of September, which is now a "very low share" in the Medal test network.
